Sony releases a Purple Diamond Edition Xperia Z3 in Hong Kong, costs $645

Just some 48 hours after we got our hands on leaked photos that supposedly showed off a Sony Xperia Z3 in purple, we now have an official confirmation that such a variant really exists. Courtesy of Sony's Hong Kong arm, the so-called Purple Diamond Edition of the Xperia Z3 will be sold in Hong Kong for HK$ 4,998, or the equivalent of ~$645.

From what we understand, this special edition of the Xperia Z3 will also come with several custom Disney themes, including one for the box office hit animation Frozen. Apart from that, the Purple Diamond Edition Z3 is actually identical to the standard model – we're just looking at a new color, and one that is pretty much synonymous with the flagship Xperia line. With the Z3, Sony decided to axe purple from the list of options, but it would appear that it's still fond of the color.

In case you're unacquainted with the Sony Xperia Z3, it's a 5.2-inch dust- and water-resistant smartphone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 20.7-megapixel Exmor RS sensor, and Android 4.4 KitKat with Sony's proprietary Xperia theme perched on top. At 0.29 inches (7.3 mm), the Xperia Z3 is among the thinnest flagships currently available on the market and we reviewed it favorably back in 2014.

Windows will be a free upgrade for Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows Phone 8.1 devices

Windows 10 will come as a free upgrade for everyone wishing to migrate from Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows Phone 8.1. Microsoft broke the good news at its Windows 10 event.

The free update program is available in the first year, allowing millions of customers - those using desktops, laptops, as well as smartphones and tablets - make the switch to the newest Windows release.

Windows head Terry Myerson is up on the Microsoft stage calling this 'a monumental day for Windows'. "Windows 10 is so much more than the latest version of Windows. Windows 10 changes the rules of the game," Myerson added. 

Even better, Microsoft promises that once a device gets upgraded to Windows 10, the company will keep it up to date for the supported lifetime of the device.

This is big news not only for consumers, but for developers as well. Programmers can now target every single Windows device rather than having to write separate software for traditional Windows and Windows Phone.

"One can think of Windows as one of the largest internet services on the planet," Myerson concluded.

Samsung Galaxy S6 to be announced at MWC in March 2

Samsung took the wraps off the Galaxy S5 at Mobile World Congress last year, choosing to hold its Unpacked event a day before the world’s biggest mobile exhibition took off. The Korean manufacturer did the same with the original Galaxy S and its sequel, and it seems the Galaxy S6 will also be announced at MWC, according to a report by The Chosunilbo. Samsung will no doubt make the announcement as glitzy as it always does, and it looks like the company could make it a habit to unveil all its Galaxy S flagships at MWC instead of changing venues now and then.

The Galaxy S6 is set to be one of the most amazing smartphones Samsung has ever made. The phone will come in both a standard variant and one with dual-edge displays, and will feature specs like a Quad HD display, Exynos 7420 processor, 3GB of RAM (possibly 4GB on the Edge model), a 16/20-megapixel rear camera, and a touch-based fingerprint sensor. The S6 will run on software that Samsung is redesigning from scratch, with an optimization level that matches stock Android on Nexus devices, and should also feature a premium all-metal/metal and glass construction.

Chains of Darkness : BETA Release

Today we'll begin Open Beta testing of Chains of Darkness on Android devices (via the Google Play store) in select territories including:

Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand. Roll-out to these countries will be gradual, starting with Vietnam and then spreading to additional countries during the Open Beta test period. Initial timing for the first country (Vietnam) is Open Beta launch on 1/9/2015 and remaining exclusive to that country until 1/16/2015 (7 days) at least.

When a new country is added we will announce it via Facebook, the Forums, and other locations. At the same time the game will be automatically added to the Google Play store for that region.

Timing and order for Open Beta roll-out is dependent on many factors, including (but not limited to), number of bugs encountered (and time to fix them), amount of data being collected (enough/not enough), ability to adjust tuning based on data being collected, and impact of weekends/holidays. We hope to achieve worldwide launch of the game by early February, but must stress that this is a fluid process. Could go faster, could go slower.

Xiaomi announces Mi Note Pro with 2K display

Along with the standard Mi Note variant, Xiaomi will sell a Pro version of the device that offers some serious hardware, including a 5.7-inch 2K display (2560 x 1440) with a pixel density of 515 PPI, octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 810 SoC, LTE Category 9 connectivity (with download speeds of 450Mbps) and more. Xiaomi calls the Mi Note Pro "literally the best smartphone in the world to date."

The device also features 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM, 64 GB eMMC 5.0 internal storage and Adreno 430 GPU. Other hardware is similar to that of the Mi Note, which sees a 13 MP camera with OIS as well as a front 4 MP shooter. The Mi Note Pro will retail later this month for RMB 3,299 ($530). The software side of things features Xiaomi's MIUI 6, which is based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

The Huawei's Honor 6 Plus and its Duo camera

Huawei recently unveiled the Honor 6 Plus, which you may think that it is like the Honor 6.

But let's not rush things, so let's take a closer look at the device.

The Huawei Honor 6 Plus has a 5.5-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 which results a 403 pixels per inch made by  a joint venture by Sony, Toshiba, and Hitachi called JDI. Huawei has equipped the Honor 6 plus with one of its own processors, the HiSilicon Kirin 925, along with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of microSD expandable storage. The octa-core Kirin 925 works with four ARM Cortex-A7 and four Cortex-A15 cores with the ARM big-Little configuration, along with a hexa-core ARM Mali-T628 GPU. All of this is powered by a very large, 3,600 mAh juicer and Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Huawei's custom EMUI 3.0 on the software side.

Let's not forget about the most magic point in this device so let's go straight to the camera :

The Honor 6 Plus is equipped with two cameras, both are 8-megapixel with huge sensors, 1.85µm that should capture significantly more light compared with most other flagships. This Duo camera, called "Symmetrical dual camera technology". The two sensors have differing lenses : one with an f/2.0 aperture, and another with an f/2.4 aperture which allow very fast auto focus "0.1 seconds", which is even quicker than the 0.3 seconds of the Galaxy S5 and the LG G3.

The Honor 6 Plus is priced at 322$ for the 3G model and 402$ for the LTE edition in China, where sales will begin in about a week. It appears that Huawei is not willing to bring the Honor 6 Plus to Europe. Also the official US release isn't going to happen. However, various third-party eCommerce sites have confirmed that they will carry the device for $400-$420 which is a good price, we think.

Oppo U3 certified by TENAA

China's TENAA certified the Oppo U3. This device will be the thinnest smartphone to offer a 4X Optical Zoom. With 9mm, the Oppo U3 is thinner than the ASUS ZenFone Zoom, which is 11.95mm thick.

The Oppo U3 will have a 5.9-inch display, with a resolution of 1080 x 1920, octa-core 1.7GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage. A microSD slot is available for additional storage. Besides the 13MP camera on back, there is a 5MP "selfie" snapper up front. The price and availability is unknown up to this moment.

It is also expected that the Oppo will unveil a new headset.

Apple : SIM-free iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus units for sale

Due to The iPhone 6's sales slowing down a bit which is expected, as the market gets saturated. Apple decided that this would be the perfect time to start selling its new handsets SIM-free, which may be something that a lot of users have been holding out for so far.

Since the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were launched back in September, the only way one could buy one of the new Apple handsets in the US was by either signing or renewing a contract with AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint, which means that the iPhone would be locked to the respective network, or grab an unlocked handset, but with a T-Mobile card inside, which makes some customers prefer not to bother.

The good news is that you can now buy a SIM-free iPhone 6 or directly from Apple, and the prices are the same as they were with the T-Mo unlocked variants.

The Samsung Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 officially unveiled

Despite of that Samsung hardly ever mentioned the word "smartphone" at CES 2015 yesterday, the undisputed, yet troubled market leader today announced the company's mid-range portfolio for 2015. During the official announcement of the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 in India, Samsung decided to show us what it's been brewing during the past few months or so.

The Samsung Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 are mostly mid-range devices, though the E7 is somewhat gravitating toward the upper mid-range one segment. They are to be viewed as cheaper alternatives to the A5 and A7. They both employ 7.3mm-thin aluminum unibodies, which makes them similar to the A5 and A7. The design is also reminding us of the A5 and A7.

The Samsung Galaxy E7 comes with a 5.5-inch, 720p Super AMOLED display, a quad-core SoC humming at 1.2GHz, 2GB RAM, 16GB on-board storage, a microSD card slot and a 13MP rear snapper, 5MP front-facing selfie one, a 2,950mAh juicer and two SIM card slots. The phone is priced at about $363.

The Samsung Galaxy E5, on the other hand comes with a 5", 720p Super AMOLED display, quad-core chipset running at 1.2GHz, 1.5GB of RAM, 16 gigs of available storage, and an 8MP rear shooter, 5MP front-facing one, a 2,400mAh battery, a microSD slot, and two SIM slots.

It is priced at about $305.

Both the Galaxy E5 and E7 are running Samsung's own TouchWiz UI over Android 4.4.4 KitKat, but Samsung said that they'll be receiving Lollipop in the future. We don't know about the International availability at this moment.

Samsung announces SUHD TVs powered by Tizen OS

Samsung has just announced a new series of SUHD TVs featuring Samsung’s proprietary display technology, a unique re-mastering engine and the world’s first Tizen-based Smart TV dashboard at CES 2015 in Vegas, Nevada. 

SUHD TVs are Samsung’s flagship lineup of the year, and will benefit from premium Ultra-HD content, thanks to the newly formed UHD Alliance.

With the use of eco-friendly nano-crystal technology and smart re-mastering engine, Samsung is able to achieve remarkable progress in colour reproduction, brightness, contrast levels, and details, providing a high-caliber picture quality – which was never seen before. It’s the world’s most brightest and energy efficient display panel ever. The new nano-crystal technology transmits different colours of various sizes, depending on the demand of the content, which gives a wider colour gamut. The new TVs are highly power-efficient as well, thanks to the Korean firm’s latest re-mastering engine, which analyses the content and adjusts the brightness of the pixels automatically.

To demonstrate the capabilities of the new SUHD TVs, the Korean giant has partnered with Hollywood studio 20th Century Fox, and worked together with them to optimise selected content tailored to its new SUHD standards. Samsung will be offering three series of SUHD TVs – JS9500, JS9000 and JS8500 – with nine screen sizes to choose from. As you can tell from the model numbers, these are Samsung’s top tier televisions, and it will probably cost you some big bucks.

Asus Zenfone 2 in details

Recently, Asus unveiled the world's first smartphone equipped with 4GB of RAM on board, surpassing all of the big guys in the industry.
The Zenfone 2 comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 silicon powerhouse that can reach clock speed of up to 2.33GHz, a 13MP camera at the back and a 5MP one up front, 64GB of built-in storage, a 3,000mAh juicer, and a duet of SIM card slots aboard.

Sony Walkman NW-ZX2 : 128GB for storage and $1120 for price

Yesterday at CES 2015 the Japanese manufacturer unveiled the latest of Walkman products, the Walkman NW-ZX2.

Sony's S-Master HX technology claims to precisely reproduce the original sound. DSEE HX aims to make lossy audio formats better than through a standard a MP3 player. There's also Bluetooth with LDAC for high-quality wireless playback. The battery life in this device provides 60 hours of playback per charge. And it is packed with an enormous 128GB of internal storage plus microSD support, which provids plenty of space for songs.

This device is priced at a whopping $1119.99, that makes the Walkman NW-ZX2 more expensive than even the most  high-end Android smartphones. And also the version of Android loaded on there is the two-year-old Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The Google Play Store is loaded in this device, so it's fully Google-approved. 

The little justification for using such an ancient Android release in 2015 may be : if you're using this device only for playing music so, you won't care too much about the Android OS version.

The ZX2 will be debuted in Spring 2015.

Galaxy S6 to come with Sennheiser earbuds

The next big thing from Samsung is the Galaxy S6, that will come with Sennheiser earbuds out of the box.

We don't know if all variants of the upcoming device will have Sennheiser earphones, however. Samsung is working on a limited edition, the dual-edged Galaxy S6 Edge that we mentioned before, might well be shared with another variant which will come with the Sennheiser buds in question.

These earbuds' design is very similar to Apple Earpods as well as the headphones which come bundled with the Amazon Fire Phone. It is said also that these headphones will also feature Apt-X, which mean that they are Bluetooth wireless headphones.

Galaxy S6 Edge will be available in limited edition

The Galaxy S6 is expected to have a curved screen and an Edge variant. But, unlike the Galaxy Note Edge, this curved screen of the Galaxy S6 could have rounded edge on either side of the panel. If that does happen, it’ll make the Galaxy S6 Edge Samsung’s first ever phone with a double-edged screen. Also, the device is expected to be showcased at the CES 2015, but only to select partners unfortunately, which doesn’t include the press.

The Galaxy S6 Edge could end up being a test to see how well the market reacts to the device. Which is why, it’ll end up being a limited edition device.

The LG G Flex 2 revealed in Details

It looks like the LG G Flex 2's news were leaked prior to its official public announcement. For the time being, we can say that these news are very detailed and are in-line with our expectations. But, no need to rush, so keep it cool !

The LG G Flex 2 is the first known smartphone to have the fresh out of the oven Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit processor, also the G Flex 2 has the self-healing back panel wizardry. Otherwise, the G Flex 2 OS will be the Android 5.0 Lollipop and it combines the G Flex's dynamic curves with the LG G3's simple and practical style. 

The G Flex 2 is 5.5-inch 1080p display with higher resolution and pixel density than the original's 6-inch, 720p panel. The technology at play is the same, LG's plastic OLED as seen in the LG G Watch R, but it is covered with glass that's been given a special treatment by LG's chemists, as a result, there is 20% improvement in toughness. 

The self-healing back we mentioned has seen a dramatic boost in speed. The one on the original G Flex took about three minutes to heal, while this one restores itself in 10 seconds at room temperature.

In addition, LG introduces three new gesture controls :
Gesture shot, the LG G3's charming selfie-taking hand gesture, makes a comeback. 

Gesture View is an easy move for checking the last photo immediately after taking it.

Glance View shows the time, recent messages, missed calls and notifications on the display by swiping down on it while it's off.

It is said also that LG G Flex 2's camera sees an improvement as well. It is equipped with a 13MP OIS cam with laser auto-focus and the front camera is just a 2.1MP unit, which is a little bit disappointing.

The handset runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor, a 2.0GHz 64-bit octa-core monster of a CPU. It is paired with 2GB of fast DDR4 RAM. There are 16 or 32GB of expandable on-board storage. The battery unit is of 3000mAh capacity with fast charge support (charges to 50% in 40 minutes). 

The G Flex 2 offers 4G / LTE / HSPA+ 21/42 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth Smart Ready (Apt-X) 4.1, NFC, SlimPort, A-GPS / Glonass, and USB 2.0. 

All of this fits into a package sized 5.87 x 2.96 x 0.27in (at the thinnest spot) - 0.37 (at the thickest spot) (149.1 x 75.3 x 7.1 - 9.4mm).

The LG G Flex 2 will be available in the South Korean market in the end of January, with a global launch set to follow soon after. It will be available in two colors :  Platinum Silver and Flamenco Red. We can say that the LG G Flex 2 is a very good looking smartphone that makes us wonder about the upcoming LG G4 !

Samsung Galaxy S6 and its variant to be displayed during CES 2015

As we all know, Samsung is working on its next-generation flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S6, which is also codenamed as Project Zero. We are also certain that Samsung will reveal the Galaxy S6 and its variant during CES 2015 but the devices will be showcased only to selected partners and not to consumers. We are not sure that the variant of the Galaxy S6 translates to the Galaxy S6 Edge but from some leaks,we know that Samsung is working on a fresh new design for its next-generation flagship smartphone and building the device right from the beginning.
According to some rumors, the Galaxy S6 might feature a QHD Super AMOLED display, Android 5.0 Lollipop, an Exynos 7420 SoC or a Snapdragon 810 chipset, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, and LTE Cat. 9/10 connectivity. Multiple prototypes of the Galaxy S6 have been tested through AnTuTu benchmark, one with a 16-megapixel camera, and the other with a 20-megapixel camera.

Android 5.0 "Lollipop" Available for the Galaxy Note 3

The Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the device has leaked, and is available in the net for the SM-N9005 version of the device.

The phablet will receive the redesigned TouchWiz UI and also the features that Android 5.0 brings.The size of the update is about 1.1GB.
After flashing your phone keep in mind that it will take longer than usual to start up. The Android 5.0 start-up wizard should be the first application you see.

If you don't know how to flash your phone, don't worry, Samsung will send the final build to you  via OTA update.
Note :  This Firmware is for the SM-N9005 version only !!
You need to know that it is impossible to downgrade to 4.3 version after flashing your phone with Lollipop !
If you don't know what you are doing, better wait for the OTA update !
This firmware is an official leaked version so, don't worry it won't trip your knox  ;)

LG G4 may be the Samsung Galaxy Note 4's Rival

The LG G4 will certainly exchange places with the late G3 at some point during 2015, and it’ll have to be very special as the name describes. 

The G4 appears to not break cover officially until later on this year, rumors of its possible specifications are already beginning to be clarified.

Here is the informations gathered up to this moment :

According to a report from China in late December, LG may include a stylus with the G4, and with that the G4 may become a competitor of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. 

LG has already produced a Stylus for the G3 and called it G3 Stylus. However, the G3 doesn’t have such a large screen, making the usage of a stylus less important. LG may make the G4 even smaller than the G3, so that the G4

could feature a 5.3-inch Quad HD screen, with an almost bezel-less display. If so, LG might offer the stylus as an accessory instead of bundling it in with the phone. Other possible specifications include a Snapdragon 810 processor, 4GB of RAM, a 20.7-megapixel camera, a 3500mAh battery and a choice of 32GB or 64GB of internal memory.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Snapdragon 810 Model : Coming soon to south Korea

Samsung's rumored new Galaxy Note 4 with the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor can be released soon.

Recently, a listing on Geekbench tips the device, which goes by Samsung SM-N916S, for Android 5.0 Lollipop and an eight-core MSM8994 processor, the Snapdragon 810. The regular Note 4, which comes with either a Samsung Exynos 7 or a Snapdragon 805 based on the model, is listed as SM-N910. This is an evidence of an upcoming variant.

According to SamMobile, the smartphone is being tested only for South Korean carriers, possibly including some carriers such as Olleh, LG+ and SKT.

As for the rest of the world, they will have to wait until the release of the next group of Android flagships in 2015.
